Price Performance PC collaborates with premiere Melbournian Fortnite streamer Kanella (KK).

Chung from Price Performance PC was pleased to meet premiere Melbournian Fortnite streamer Kanella (KK) and her clan.

In February 2023 KK was the 19th most watched female Fortnite English speaking twitch streamer on the planet and the second most watched in Australia that month amassing 16K combined Twitch and Twitter followers worldwide.

She has captained several Fortnite tournaments and just last month achieved 4th Place in the Maybelline’s $10k Eyes Up Cup (Fortnite tournament). Congratulations on a job well done!

Check KK’s channel out at https://www.twitch.tv/yourgirlkk

KK’s PC needed a step up for a top tier player with better aesthetics to complement her bright, cheerful personality. So here are the steps we took to mod her PC into something more fitting for a streamer of her calibre.

First off, the mechanical hard disk had to go. Putting up with painful loading times for both the Windows and games should be a thing of the past. We did a fresh install of Windows to a solid state drive, installing the latest updates and drivers. Dual booting was enabled so KK could take her time migrating to the SSD.

Next we updated the bios so Windows 11 would be supported in future and for improved memory compatibility.

The stock cooler for the cpu looked drab and the cpu would thermal throttle under full load. So we replaced this with the Jonsbo CR-1100 Pink dual fan aRGB tower cooler sporting 6 heat pipes. This cooler is not only visually pleasing but would ensure the cpu could perform at max frequency on turbo boost.

We replaced the generic black chassis with a pink Deepcool Macube tempered glass case. As a unique feature, we inserted a personalised acryclic panel which will have Kanella’s name highlighted in RGB colours in sync with the cpu cooler colour scheme (in progress).

Randomly coloured cables from the power supply didn’t match. So we connected vibrant pink and white psu extension cables to complement the pink aesthetics.

Similarly we changed over the original black ram sticks and replaced these with pure white Corsair Vengeance DDR4 memory.

The finishing touch of course was Kanella’s smile…another happy customer. Thanks for the opportunity to work on your gaming rig KK!

The Climb virtual reality with Oculus Rift S

It’s not just the price of graphics cards that are falling. This used oculus rift s was purchased in marketplace for only $200 making virtual reality an affordable experience. Surprising realism whether it’s climbing a mountain in The Climb or having Darth Vader towering over you. Doesn’t require a pricey gaming PC either. This ran smoothly with only an i5-8400 and RX6600XT.

Stray DirectX 12 ray tracing

A recommendation for these school holidays would be the highly anticipated game Stray. You play a cat in a futuristic landscape similar to Cyberpunk but with content fit for a general audience. The graphics were already a visual treat with DirectX 11 and a smooth experience even on a modest i5-8400 budget gaming PC with RX6600XT.

There is a hidden ray tracing mode which can be enabled by right clicking the game in Steam and typing -dx12 in the launch settings. Water reflections and neon lights really take your breath away. But with ray tracing the game does take a performance hit. The gameplay video below was captured using a Ryzen 7 5700X with RTX 3080. Check it out.

Upcoming CPUs and GPUs in 2023

The PC Gaming world and gamers themselves know how crucial a CPU and a Graphics Card Unit (GPU) can be when it comes to high-end gaming. A good quality CPU and GPU deliver the ultimate quality, faster delivery, and sheer experience.

Next year will be quite a crazy one for PC gamers because of the anticipated big release such as the long awaited RTX 4060. Newcomer Intel are also ready to impress the PC gaming world by introducing their ARC cards.

Likewise, AMD is also razor-focused on introducing the “Pinnacle of PC gaming performance” by launching some higher than mid-range gaming CPUs, built with the highest core, thread, and cache ever.

 Let’s talk about them.

 AMD Zen 4

AMD has revealed some information about their upcoming Ryzen 7000 series processors which will be based on the Zen 4 architecture. The Raphael chips used inside will uplift the desktop workloads by 8%. Moreover, we can also expect a 15% increase in single-threaded performance and 25% in per-watt performance.

AMD also provided the roadmap of its 2023 releases which says that Zen 4 and RDNA 3-based APU named Phoenix Point will be released in early 2023. Threadripper processor, based on Zen 4, will also be released in 2023.

AMD Zen 5

The Zen 5 CPU named Granite Ridge is something that we can also expect by the end of 2023. The only news we have till now is that the AMD Zen 5 will be based on a secretive Advanced Node, which will be a league of its own.

 Intel ARC GPU

Intel bringing its debutant ARC GPU named Alchemist will be a hint of fresh air. The speculations have shown that Intel might be aiming for the mid-range market at the start. The Alchemist GPU can give the likes of RTX 3070 Ti a run for its money.

The upcoming DG3 cards will be known as Battlemage, and it is most likely to have an impact on the high-end market once it is released.

Intel Xeon

Intel is most likely to release its Future Xeon processors in 2023. This new edition will have 18% better performance than its predecessor Meteor Lake which will arrive later this year. The CPU will comprise 16 performance and 16 efficiency cores that make a total of 32 cores with 48 threads.

 Conclusion

The PC gaming world will be rocked in 2023 when such major releases take place. If you want to bench your current rig to see how it will handle next generation games put it through EzBench. With prices plummeting on current generation gaming PCs the question remains whether to wait or buy later?

Ultra realism with Unreal Engine 5

Welcome to the new era of Gaming PC and graphics where surrealism is what we experience.

Epic Games recently launched their Unreal Engine 5, a modern cutting-edge engine designed for the best ultimate gaming experience complemented with photorealistic graphics.

The company claims that this new engine is the epitome of ultra-realism as it represents a generational leap in technological capabilities.

The Unreal Engine 5 introduced two features that go way beyond anyone’s expectations.

  • Lumen: A new way to incorporate realistic lighting effects.
  • Nanite: A high-end tool to add high-quality textures into the gaming environments.

The company gave a little demonstration of these features on the latest PC along with other famous consoles, which instantly won many hearts. Game developers have been equally impressed by this engine and reveal how they use it for their good.

You will need a high end PC if you’re wanting a smooth experience with this new technology. If you’d like to see how your PC performs with Unreal Engine 5 try running it through the Ezbench stress test. We found an i7-10700KF with Strix RTX 2080 could only exceed 30fps at 1080p!

Here is what we have learned about the Unreal Engine 5 so far.

Ease of use:

The Unreal Engine 5 will be much easier to use for the development. Once incorporated, it will pave a new way for swift game development. One remarkable thing seen in this engine was the inclusion of 3D animation tools and modeling directly into the editing interface, thus saving more time and energy.

Widely adopted:

Developers crave ease. Once the Unreal Engine 5 is fully in action, it will receive widespread adoption. Even now, about 48% of next-gen titles are powered by Unreal Engine 5. Big games like Witcher and the Tomb Raider reboot have already signed to use Unreal Engine 5.

Greater accessibility:

As compared to the previous versions, the Unreal Engine 5 will be more accessible for the developers to help them learn how to use the Engine properly. Epic Games took a step forward and introduced Lyra, an FPS game that demonstrates the new features in Unreal 5.

Surrealism:

The amount of work done on the Unreal Engine 5 is remarkable. The developers created a feature named “Nanite virtualized micro polygon geometry,” which will allow the designers and artists to create artwork made out of several millions and billions of polygons. All of this we can import directly to the Unreal Engine 5.

Final Words

Epic Games have achieved such a marvel in the shape of Ultra Engine 5. They aim to empower both small and larger developing teams to leverage this ultra-realistic engine and achieve something that transcends the boundaries of possibilities.

With Unreal Engine 5, the designers could achieve a rendering close to photorealism. It has already impressed everyone on the network. The developers are waiting for the Engine to be fully accessible to everyone. With big names associated with CD Projekt RED and Crystal Dynamics, we can already see how seriously this Engine has been taken by the gaming world.

PC Gamer review of Resident Evil Village

The latest sequel of the resident evil series, Resident Evil Village has not failed to make a mark in the gaming world. Produced by Capcom, it is an ideal game for people who are into horror with a touch of action.

The storyline picks up three years after volume 7. Ethan Winters is living with his wife and child when the evil from the last instalment appears and kills his wife and kidnaps his daughter. With that begins the epic journey of Ethan Winters to rescue his kidnapped child.

The beginning of the storyline fully engages the gamer in the haunted world of the village. You play as Ethan Winters with the challenge to survive and use resources to kill the evil that you come across.

The game experience on a higher end PC is very much smooth and enjoyable. The realistic graphics, animations, characters, and sound effects make your gaming experience better than ever.

As Ethan enters the village, he is pursued by werewolf mutants, creepy dolls, and other undesirables.

The game maintains a thrilling pace till the very end of the storyline. Visuals and mechanics are great, the storyline is interesting, characters are well-developed and the gaming environment is much more detailed than in the previous sequels. Every villain is unique, and offers different encounters.

The game takes some characteristics from the previous sequels. The plot twist being Chris Redfield who has always been a hero is seen as a villain.

The village game satisfies the horror genre in a more complete way. Unlike the previous games, there is more variety of enemies at every stage. The game is not only about the shooting but has many other challenges and puzzles.

Depending on your gaming hardware experience may not be perfectly smooth but enjoyable. For a budget gaming PC be prepared to tweak settings to reduce lag and glitches.

Final Words

Resident Evil Village is a respectable survival horror game that does justice to the series. The game is a perfect combination of action and horror with engaging narration and realistic animations that deserves two thumbs up.

Age of Empires IV RTS continues to impress PC gaming and gamers

The Age of Empires part IV was announced in late August of 2017. Since then, the real-time strategy (RTS) fans have been anxiously waiting for the game to release. Since Microsoft and Xbox took the initiative to launch the game, there were high hopes that this game would impress the lot.

Finally, the game got released, and let’s tell you; it wasn’t an easy task completing the game. Everything was a delight to the eyes, from its four-part historic campaign with multiple missions to testing the multiplayer matches and skirmishes.

Review + Gaming Graphics:

The Age of Empires IV could be called a classic RTS game in every sense.

Although one can’t say it is revolutionary, the game has been impressive enough with its unique spice, style, and grace – contrary to other RTS games.

It is balanced and a superb finished game that feels more like a slow burn as you progress through the missions. The replayability is spectacular and is fun enough.

Although it is highly debatable in our personal opinion, it does not go to the level of Age of Empires II – cult success. But we can see many elements incorporated in the 4th installment of this game that we have seen in the second one.

Like the best-loved elements from the Age of Empires II game that was mimicked into the latest installment but with high-definition, this enriched look in the new RTS game won hearts.

One crucial thing we saw in the game was the producers’ dedication and their understanding of their fans. They paid homage to the old as well as the new fans. The tutorial for Age of Empires IV was more like a throwback to the unforgettable memories we made for the previous Age of Empires series.

Another change we saw was in the Story Mode, when the difficulty level in the campaign removed the mass tactics and the micro play to give the story a more narrative-driven experience.

The challenges in AoE IV are designed for the gamers to test their potential and improve their understanding of the game and its core elements.

Final Words

It is up for debate whether the game truly captured the essence of the previous games or whether it would be likable to the audience. To us, the game was impressive enough despite being an RTS genre.

Some moments inside the game lack the potential and complexity required at this level. The technological aspects of the Age of Empire IV could have been done better, but it’s still acceptable.

In conclusion, this game was a solid entry to the Age of Empire series, and there is still plenty to discuss, but with new additions and fixes, this game is worth a try.

We have loved playing the game so far, and so will you. We are just excited about what the Age of Empires IV RTS game brings to its audiences.

In short, the Age of Empires IV RTS impressed us!

This is a demanding game an we recommend a high end gaming PC for smooth gameplay.

The Witcher 3 Review

Author: Jin Wan

There are countless numbers of role-playing games (RPGs) in the world. But the epic RPGs immerse you so deeply into their worlds that you get lost in their made-up worlds. Specifically, RPGs like Mass Effect 2, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 3 make you feel the weight of the decisions you make throughout the game by affecting the outcomes in dramatic ways. But nothing beats The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The Witcher – now made even hotter with Superman superstar Henry Cavill playing the main character in the Witcher TV series – is about Geralt, a monster slayer set in a war-torn world containing everything you would expect from epic RPGs mentioned above. What makes Witcher 3 an uber RPG is that it not only gets the “normal” RPG elements right, but it also gets everything else right!

Having bought The Witcher 3 on both Nintendo Switch and PC, I sunk weeeeeeell over 100 hours on the Witcher 3 before completing the game, and still wanted more. I’ve never played an RPG where every single mission felt unique. In fact, some of the optional side-missions – which are often considered “lesser missions” in epic RPGs – are even more interesting than the main missions! As a result, you upgrade and improve Geralt without even realising it because every single mission is equally engrossing.

The other thing that The Witcher 3 got right was the action element. You battle monsters in real-time, and the action in the battles are so smooth and so good it rivals other pure Action RPGs! You actually feel that you are getting better as you use the different combination of weapons and spells – and you can play the action however you like! If you prefer spells then go ahead and build a powerful wizard in Geralt. If you’d rather skewer monsters then make Geralt a tank. Or you can mix them up if you’re undecided.

As if all the above wasn’t enough, developer CD Projekt Red even made the in-game card game, Gwent, highly addictive. Who really cares about a card game within an RPG game? But to my surprise, I was just as absorbed by the Gwent card game strategy as I was with the rest of the Witcher 3 world. Unbelievable!

The Final Word

In the final analysis, I would be more than willing to upgrade my gaming performance PC just to play The Witcher 3 in its full glory. The Witcher 3 is to the gaming world what The Lord of the Rings is to the movie world. It will be a mammoth task for any developer, even CD Projekt Red themselves, to top this uber RPG. But one can only hope, as I’ll be first to buy the game – and a new gaming performance PC along with it.

Elden Ring immersive PC Gaming Experience

The Elden Ring is one of the biggest highlights of this year. Since March, the game has already sold more than 12 M copies, and its success is touching new horizons. Elden Ring has become a massive commercial as well as a critical success.

Elden Ring is the latest addition to the “Souls” series. The developer of the game collaborated with Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin to create this masterpiece.

The game revolves around the Elden Ring, a symbol of power, order, and prosperity in this world. Suddenly the ring shatters, thus leaving the shard bearers to fight to earn the power back over the land.

The players start as one of the group members called the Tarnished. These people are banished from the Lands Between. In the game, the players are called once again as the last effort to restore the Elden Ring to its former glory.

PC Gamer Experience

The graphics of Elden Ring are flawless. The golden leaves dangling along the giant Erdtree in the center of the world, glazing through the night, are as surreal as anything. From dark shadows to torch-lit caves, every scene is purely artistic, and the attention to detail in terms of the graphic is out of the world.

One couldn’t help but go awe-struck while seeing how well-designed the game is. There are lots of combats and secrets hidden for you as you progress in the game. One thing is for sure the game is not short. It is lengthy but keeps the excitement level subpar.

However, when you play the Elden Ring on your PC, it might have some issues.

The first issue is that the Elden Ring PC game is poorly optimized. It doesn’t matter how high-end your gaming PC is, and you will still get plenty of bugs.

A similar example is during the mounting of Torrent, the player starts levitating and eventually dies in a few seconds.

Another issue that has happened in gaming PCs is during multiplayer mode. It can crash multiple times on the multi-mode and seldom during the single mode.

However, you can change the settings like remapping the keyboard, mouse, and gamepad. Plus, some graphical tweaks can also make the performance better.

Despite all of this, the gaming experience for Elden Ring on PC is still superior. The game developers constantly update and send large patches to fix these bugs. They even added additional parts to the questlines of some characters that didn’t make it to the initial cut.

Conclusion

Despite some minor glitches in the game, there is no denying the fact that Elden Ring has taken the gaming world by storm. It has lived up to its hype.

Spending 90 bucks can get you lots of hours of gameplay which is the most exciting thing for me. The story’s progression in the Souls series is excellent, and Elden Ring adds a lot to the story.

Keeping the game glitch-free for PC users will make Elden Ring the next big thing for PC gamers.
